I made this to go in a frame or at the front of their scrapbook if they like.

Some very special people I know are having the most magical Christmas this year! And, here are some special shirts that were made for this very special occasion.

TEXAS SUGAR COOKIES

Everything is bigger in Texas including our Sugar Cookies!!!

This is a great recipe for some of the Best Sugar Cookies you have ever tasted! This recipe has been in the family for years! So enjoy and may ya'll all have a very blessed and Merry Christmas!

You will need:

Cookies~
3 1/2 Cups Flour
1 tsp. baking Soda
1/2 tsp. Salt
1 Cup Sugar
1 Eff
1 1/2 tsp. Vanilla
1/2 Cup Sour Cream
1/2 Cup Butter

Frosting~
2 Tbs. Butter
3/4 Cup Powder Sugar
2 tsp. Water
2 tsp. Milk
1 tsp. Vanilla

~Pre-Heat Oven to 350 degrees

Cookies:
~Blend Sugar, Butter, Egg, and Vanilla for 3 minutes until smooth. Add Sour Cream.
~In separate bowl mix Soda, Salt, and Flour. Slowly add dry mixture to Sugar Mixture until completely blended.
~Roll out dough on Floured wax paper or floured board to 1/4" thick.
~Cut Out shapes and place on cookie sheet
~If using sprinkles apply at this time
~Bake at 350 degrees for about 12 minutes. Cookies will PUFF UP BIG with TEXAS PRIDE!
~Allow to cool

Frosting:
~Mix all ingredients together in Microwave Safe Blow
~Place in Microwave for about 10-15 seconds until melted slightly.
~Dip the tops of cookies in to the softened frosting and then place on a cookie rack until frosting hardens again.

Helpful Hints:
~If dough is too soft, when trying to roll out, break it is about 4-6 sections wrap each in clear wrap and place in fridge for about 10-20 minutes to firm up before using cookie cutters.
~Spray cookie sheet to ensure cookies don't get stuck
~For different colors of frosting put frosting in several different bowls, add food coloring, and then microwave
~Allow Cookies to cool completely before dipping them in frosting

Things to be Thankful For!

Thanksgiving is right around the corner.

One of the things I am most thankful for is my family.

I am blessed with a large extended family, all of whom I love dearly.

And, this year God is blessing my own little family with the dear addition of a Baby Girl!

Who is due the day after Thanksgiving.

I am hoping and praying that she will come early so that our baby girl and her big brother can wear this matching Thanksgiving garb I made for them!

(Other wise, baby girl will have to wear her bib next year and I'll have to make my son a new shirt!)

Christmas Stockings!!!

A dear friend of mine made her boys some Christmas stockings and then decided she wanted to jazz them up with some embroidery. Here's what we came up with!!!

Here's an Amazing Recipe that has been one of our family favorites for as long as I can remember.

Mini Cheese Cakes
Preheat oven 370 degrees
Aluminum Muffin Foils (not paper) to hold the Cheese cakes -they go inside regular Muffin pan get your pans ready.
1- Box Vanilla Wafer Cookies (these go in the bottom of the muffin tins -see below for tip*)
2- 8 oz cream cheese softened (blend together)
4- eggs (add one at a time)
1/2 cup sugar (blend into mixture)
1 tsp almond extract (blend into mixture)
* Use a glass measuring cup or spoon to put a quarter size amount of the above mixture in the bottom of each of your muffin foils, add the cookie and press it down into the mixture. Then add the remaining mixture on top of cookie -about half full. "Gluing" the cookie down with mixture will help keep cookie from floating up into the middle of cheese cake.)
Cook for 15 min-18min 370 degrees (cheese cakes should not be too jiggly and may crack, but should not be brown on top)
cools 5 min then add topper.
Topper:
2- cups sour cream
6- Tbls Sugar
1- tsp almond ext
(blend above ingredients)
5 min
Chill 4-6 hours

1 Can of Cherries and 1 tsp Almond Extract and Chill before serving

Hope you all enjoy!!!

You can also use different type of berries or even chocolate and nuts to top these off with. My husband and I had these at our wedding in addition to our wedding cakes. They were wonderful!

I had to do some tests on my Embroidery machine a while back and as I needed something to embroider on to complete the test and be sure all was running smoothly again...I decided on this little bib. Even work can be SWEET with an Embroidery machine!!!

Alright, so my two year old son, Buckaroo, is in LOVE with letters. He can identify his upper and lower case letters, knows their names, and the sounds they make. He is always spotting words and "reading/spelling" out the letters that compile them. Buckaroo also loves to sing the ABC song. So, I thought it was high time I make him his own special ABC shirt!

and as a special favor to the club we embroidered these shirts for them.

Their standard shirt is a Royal Blue Polo with White lettering.

My Cousin's little girl, "Cupcake," recently had her first birthday and to celebrate her mom gave her an amazing Candy Land themed Birthday party.

New Designs for Fall...and a Yummy Recipie Too!!!

Yes, we again have some new designs...
My favorites are the Water Color Pumpkin (it is so pretty!)
and the new little Bear! Oh so cute!

But, first...to get you in the mood...
here is a delicious Pumpkin Cream Cheese Recipe!!!

Ingredients

1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened
3 tablespoons confectioners' sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 unbaked pastry shell (9 inches)
FILLING:
1-2/3 cups heavy whipping cream
1-1/2 cups canned pumpkin
2 eggs, lightly beaten
3/4 cup sugar
1-3/4 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice

Directions:

In small bowl beat cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla together till smooth. Spread into pastry shell. In another small bowl whisk filling ingredients until smooth. Pour over cream cheese layer. Cover loosely with foil.

Bake at 350 degrees for 70-80 minutes.

Nutrition Facts: 1 serving (1 piece) equals 509 calories, 37 g fat (21 g saturated fat), 157 mg cholesterol, 221 mg sodium, 40 g carbohydrate, 2 g fiber, 6 g protein.

A Quick Practice Project for my MIL

Just some of the reasons we love our Texas State Aquarium!!!

#1. The kids have so much fun!!!
(The River Otters were the biggest hit for Buckaroo.)

#2. You get to see cool sea life up close and personal

Our God is Awesome!!!

My Mother in Law started volunteering at our local Aquarium back in the Spring. And, she had this old tote bag that she gave me to try my hand at embroidering...
So, I looked around and found a fun design and here's the end result!

It is amazing how nifty an old stained tote bag can start to look when you add some pretty embroidery to it!

Jennifer's son is her and her husband's acting Ambassador...how adorable is that?

Buckaroo's reaction when I first told him he was going to be a BIG BROTHER! (Actually, he's trying to play Peek-a-Boo here.)

Jennifer's Buckaroo is very excited about being a BIG BROTHER. (We found out the good news on Wednesday the 24th and I was 4 weeks and 5 days along at that point.) When I asked him if he wanted a baby he said, "Yeah, Yeah!" Smiled and Nodded his head.
Buckaroo can already say "Baby" and when I ask him where the baby is...well he points to his tummy! (We are still working on getting him to point to Mommy's tummy.) But, he does get that the baby is in a tummy. It is very cute. We pray for the baby together and Buckaroo really seems to dig that. So sweet. I think he will make a great BIG BROTHER!
This baby is due the day after Thanksgiving...so we shall have lots and lots to be thankful for this year!

We recently created a whole ensemble for our little second cousin, Miss Madison Danielle, our recent posts have been to show you our progress step by step and now you can view the complete and finished project.

First we started with the quilt...

Then we monogrammed a diaper bag...

The Diaper Bag with the Paisleys was purchased by our Aunt independently and she had no idea what we had already planned!
(Please note we do not stock diaper bags.)

Because of the nature of the bag we could not embroider directly on to the bag...but not wanting to disappoint our aunt we got creative and came up with patches...which we then hand sewed to the bag! : ) I have a whole new respect for the ladies in days gone buy who only sewed by hand! Most impressive!

Next we have our Burp Cloth Gift Set...

The colors in ribbons and lettering not only tie in the Quilt, but also the Paisley Diaper Bag.

Embroidery and Monogramming on a Diaper Bag

This is a quick show and tell post. We did a special project for our Aunt, (it is her daughter who's having the baby) which consisted of creating patches featuring the baby's name and initials and then hand sewing the patches on the diaper bag. Here's the finished product.

A Quilt for a Sweet Baby Girl...

This quilt was made with love for our new
little second cousin to be, Miss Madison!!!
We cannot wait to meet the newest member of the family!

In honor of her soon to be birth,
we embroidered her Name and Birth Year on a corner of the quilt

All of our quilts are custom made. We find out the theme colors for the nursery and then we select material and design a pattern for each quilt.

We love making quilts because they are projects that all three of us Daughters of Texas can work on together...it makes the process so much more enjoyable!

The Fall of the Alamo...The Price of Freedom!

Today we honor the brave Texans that fell in the Battle of the Alamo! And, by who's sacrifice guaranteed the time necessary for Texas to secure her Independence. To those brave lovers of Freedom, Liberty, & Independence we salute you!

On March 6th, 1836 the Alamo fell to Santa Anna's forces. The Battle Cry of "Remember the Alamo" steeled the hearts of the Texans who ultimately defeated Santa Anna and freed Texas from Tyranny.

Celebrating TEXAS Independence Day!!!

Today we celebrate Texas Independence day! One of the greatest accomplishments in Texas history and arguably human history. On March 2, 1836 the Texans (Tejanos and Anglo Texians) quest for liberty and the up holding of the Constitution of 1824 came to a crisis. Realizing that Santa Anna and his government would never consent to honoring the Constitution the Texans were forced to one conclusion...Independence from a tyrannical government was essential for the Texans to survive and live as free men. At Washington on the Broazos, the Convention of 1836 drafted the Texas Declaration of Independence while the Alamo in San Antonio was under seige by Santa Anna's army. These patriots signed this majestic document and Texans now fought to establish a Republic free from tyranny. The brave defenders of the Alamo finally succumbed to the overwhelming forces of Santa Anna on March 6, 1836. They died never knowing that Texas had declared her Independence from Mexico. And the Mexican flag with 1824 embroidered on it, signaling the Texans rights under Constitutional law, flew until the Mexican army removed it a replaced it with the Mexican state flag. After this, Santa Anna turned his eyes towards Goliad and ultimately on the Texas army under Sam Houton. The signers of the declaration had to flee the approaching Mexican army. However, Texas forces under the leadership of General Sam Houston rebounded with a decisive victory at San Jacinto on April 21, 1836, winning Texas her independence!

Our Birthday Princess!!!

Also, for those of you interested in blessing a Daughter or Son of the King with some inspirational music please visit the web site of our favorite song writer and friend Judy Rogers. Judy has been writing children's music, spiritual songs, and reviving the great hymns and psalms of faith for years. For young children (and folk of all ages) there in no better CD available then 'Why Can't I See God?' All of the songs are based off of the Westminster Catechisms and are excellent for instruction in righteousness. The CD that inspired this shirt and all of us from our early girlhood years is 'Walking Wise' featuring the song, 'The King's Daughter.' This is a beautiful and powerful hymn on the nature of God's perfect law, our standing to it, and how Christ alone kept it, and how through faith in Him we have eternal life! May this great hymn of faith be a blessing to you all!

Bibs, Bibs, & More Bibs...

Alright, so one of the fun and very cool things we get to Embroider here at The Daughters of Texas are BIBS! Lots of bibs! So, we wanted to be able to introduce you all to our Bibs...what they start out as and the finished product.

For starter, our bibs are very soft! They are made by Koala Baby and are very absorbent and have easy Velcro closure. They wash well and hold their bright colors wash after wash after wash. (I know, as these were my favorite bibs with my son, Buckaroo. He was tough on bibs and these ones looked great and were still soft after the 10,000th wash!) And, these bibs come in an assortment of colors as well!

The girl colors are:
Hot Pink, Purple, Bright Blue, Bright Green, and Orange

And the boy colors are:
Red, Orange, Yellow, Bright Green, and Dark Blue

We also offer flannel for the center of our Applique Bibs.
Currently our colors are Blue Stripes, Multi-Colored Stripes, Pink Stripes, and Western (which is not pictured, but has a blue background).

Southern Chocolate Raspberry Cheese Cake

~Southern Chocolate Raspberry Cheesecake~

Here is a great recipe for all you Chocolate lovers out there! I made it for our Church lunch last week and it was a delightful success! It is hard to beat a delicious Cheesecake, even harder to beat one accented by chocolate and topped with Raspberries, but add to all of that an easy and economical recipe and you are on top of the world!

Serves 16 people

Prep time 40 minutes. Bake 325 degrees for 65 minutes plus chill time

Ingredients

1-1/2 cups cream-filled chocolate sandwich cookie crumbs (i.e. Oreo Cookies)
2 tablespoons butter, melted
4 packages (8 ounces each) cream cheese, softened
1-1/4 cups sugar
1 cup (8 ounces) sour cream
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 eggs, lightly beaten
9 ounces semisweet chocolate, chopped
1/2 cup seedless raspberry preserves
Personal Note: I like thicker crust so I added extra cookies and butter.
TOPPING:
6 ounces semisweet chocolate, chopped
1/3 cup heavy whipping cream
Fresh raspberries and whipped cream, optional
Personal Note: I also increased the amount of chocolate topping.

Directions

Place a greased 9-in. springform pan on a double thickness of heavy-duty foil (about 18 in. square). Securely wrap foil around pan. Combine cookie crumbs and butter; press onto the bottom of prepared pan. (Or use Wiltons cool pan wraps like I did.)
In a large bowl, beat cream cheese and sugar until smooth. Beat in sour cream and vanilla. Add eggs; beat on low speed just until combined. Set aside 1-1/2 cups; pour remaining batter over crust.
In a microwave, melt chocolate; stir in preserves until blended. Stir in reserved batter just until blended. Drop by tablespoonfuls over the plain batter (do not swirl). Place springform pan in a large baking pan; add 1 in. of hot water to larger pan.
Bake at 325° for 65-75 minutes or until center is just set and top appears dull. Remove springform pan from water bath. Cool on a wire rack for 10 minutes. Carefully run a knife around edge of pan to loosen; cool 1 hour longer.
For topping, place chocolate in a small bowl. In a small saucepan, bring cream just to a boil. Pour over chocolate; whisk until smooth. Cool slightly. Spread over top of cheesecake. Refrigerate overnight. Garnish with raspberries and whipped cream if desired. Yield: 16 servings.
Personal Note: After you add the chocolate topping, put it in the fridge for about 5 minutes, take it out while it is still slightly soft, arrange the raspberries on top and allow it to finish chilling. This way your raspberries will be lightly embedded in the chocolate topping making the presentation just that much better.

We love rainbows...their beauty, their vibrant colors, their symbolizing that the storm is over and that a cheerful day is dawning,...and we love rainbows because it reminds us that God loves us and He has Covenanted with His people and creation. (See Genesis 9:8-17)

Our Latest Quilt!!!

A Quilt For Robin Hood!!!

Here is our latest custom quilt! This quilt was made with a woodland animal theme. And features, Moose, Black Bears, Trout, Canadian Geese, and more!!!

We used four different fabrics to create this quilt. Two prints and two different colors of suede type material.

This time around we got pretty fancy and let the creative juices really flow. We had some dear friends come down over the holidays and Lauren brought her embroidery machine with her. So this time around we added embroidery to our quilt.

However, we made them interchangeable so one could decorate the room just the way you like it!

We finished the back with the same suede material as we did the front. As this 'little Robin Hood' lives in the Great White North of America...we wanted to be sure baby would stay warm!!!

My (Pudgy) Baby Bunny

For Baby's 1st Christmas

This is a special ornament I tried my hand at for a Baby's first Christmas ornament and gave it to a dear friend of mine. I call this 'My Baby Bunny' or as my husband calls it "My PUDGY baby Bunny!" What can I say? I like my babies plump!!! I actually had never drawn or painted a rabbit...or bunny before so this certainly was something new for me. A Christmas Present for My Son

Merry Christmas to you my darling little boy...

My son, Buckaroo, who is almost two, fell in love with trains this past fall. So, I embarked on a mission to find him a wooden train that he could play with and that would be something that he would be able to pass down to his children too some day. And, this is what I found at a local craft show, The Country Peddler.

A handcrafted wooden train set complete with an Engine, three Cars, and a Caboose.

It was perfect!!!
I decided to jazz the train up a bit and paint it for Buckaroo for Christmas. Here is the result...

My son was SO EXCITED when he opened this on Christmas morning!

I love all of the bright colors for a little boy to enjoy

This was the perfect gift and my son loves it dearly!!!

Our lovely sister Johanna plays the piano beautifully and this past Saturday she had her Christmas Recital. Johanna and other students played Christmas Carols and Hymns for Elderly at an Assisted Living Home to help bring them warmth and cheer this Christmas Season. After the Recital Johanna went up to play through one of her songs again and she was joined by a little "helper," her nephew, Buckaroo. Enjoy!

As the Christmas Season draws near and the world around us give homage to Christ the King and Celebrate His birth whether in tradition, song, or worship...remember to take this opportunity to praise God and to share Christ with others. When you are shopping and 'Joy to the World' starts playing...praise God and use the opportunity to share the good news about Christ! It's Christmas, and people are open to hearing about Christ the King more then any other time of the year. Even though the Bible does not tell us the day Christ was born...as the world sets aside time especially to remember His birth...and hopefully His life, death, resurrection, and glorification...utilize the opportunity for bringing glory to God!

A Quilt for a King

This quilt was especially made for our cousin's new baby boy, Little Tonka, who shared the same due date as his cousin, Little Cupcake. Babies are such a blessing and we are very happy to be able to Welcome Little Tonka into the family!!! Welcome Baby Boy!!!

He is such a sweet and good baby!!! And so long too! He going to be a football player just like his Daddy, Tonka, and his big Brother, Tonka Jr.

We made this quilt to complement Little Cupcake's Quilt so some of the common themes are that we used the same Blue Jean material to make both quilts and we finished the backs of with silly satin. Blue for Little Tonka and Pink for Little Cupcake.

Sadly, we lost all the pictures we had of our making the quilt together.

In addition to the Texas flare of the Denim, we used, Cute Choochoo Train print, and Bought super soft Puffy White fabric to emulate the smoke coming from the train's smoke stack. It was so much fun making the quilt for Little Tonka!!!

We hope this Keepsake quilt will be a blessing to you Little Tonka and that it will keep you warm this winter!!!

This is a new item I tried my hand at...Ladybugs!!! Lots and lots of Ladybugs! This skirt was made for the same Oklahoma Angle who received my latest Dancing with Wildflowers Dress ,

It starts with a cute outfit...

I then evaluate the front...

...and the back...and I plan out the placement of my Ladybugs!

And, it turns into...
TEXAS CUTE!

Just for Fun Look What I Did!!!

I live in the Country...in the middle of no-where Texas and I LOVE IT! Suffice it to say that the country road my husband, (Cowboy,) son, (Buckaroo,) and I live on does not merit the mail truck to drive down our road and personally deliver our mail to our door. Hence, our mail box sits on a pole with a whole bunch of other mail boxes sitting side by side at the beginning of our road. Last week someone knocked down all the poles these mailboxes sat on so it was time for a new box! Since most of our new box was not even going to be visible I was not going to paint anything on the box...but changed my mind at the very last minute and painted these three little bluebonnets on right before walking out the door! Sometimes, the little last minute details are what you will enjoy the most day in and day out!

Wildflower Dress fit for an Angel

Here is the latest project this Daughter of Texas has been working on. A special 'Dancing With Wildflowers Dress' for a Little Oklahoma Angel. This is a Size 4T Dress, Baby Gap brand, it took about 35 hours to hand paint both the front and back of this dress and it sold for $50.00.
